Xbox Games Showcase 2023 Showcase our most ambitious lineup of games ever, and that means showing off projects from some of the world’s biggest teams — and some of the smaller ones, too. Among the exciting projects from our Xbox Game Studios, we’ve also made room for some very special projects [email protected] developers, including Thunder Lotus’ 33 Immortals and microbird games Dungeons of Hinterberg.
On this week’s Xbox Podcast, our own Larry Hryb interviewed developers from both teams, and made sure to ask them what it’s like to see their projects share the stage with the likes of Starfield, parableand more.
“It was amazing,” said Stéphane Lugier, Creative Director, Thunder Lotus. “It was a dream come true for the team, for me — it was so fulfilling to be part of the community. I was in the room with everybody, with all the fans, and there was so much energy, and [such] Amazing content. It was really something, one of the best moments of my life. We’ve worked so hard over the last few years to make this happen, so this moment was extraordinary.”
Microbird co-founder Philip Seyfried felt similarly: “It was absolutely amazing. We kept quiet about the game for a year and a half. When we started prototyping, we took some initial screenshots and put them on Twitter, and we had a pretty good response, but then we kept quiet all For so long, and it rocked us that we can’t talk about the game. It was shown for the first time at such a huge event – just being in that movie theater in Los Angeles – it was one of the biggest moments we’ve had in years.”
Microbird co-founder Regina Reisinger added: “We were really excited, our hands were shaking a little bit there, we were waiting for it.”
It is safe to say that both revelations went well. 33 Immortals Its fusion of action-rogue mechanics and the massive co-op of 33 players at its base (drawn from the spirit of MMO raids) was amazing. Dungeons of Hinterberg Meanwhile it drew praise for its vibrant, comic book-inspired art style and the promise of live sim elements alongside its dungeon crawling.
Both games also offered press conferences, something Lugier enjoyed doing right after the show:

“All afternoon we played a version of the game with the press, and we had a lot of fun. It was really interesting to start playing cooperatively directly with everyone, and we gave a lot [laughs]! Everyone died a lot and we saved each other, and so everyone started using the unique power that each weapon has – you need other players to take a position, and so we developed tactics to get rid of the dangerous elites, the monstrous elites that they really are. Fast, so it was really fun. In a multiplayer game like 33 ImmortalsThe game really exists when players play together, the dynamic of the game happens in this moment… We played and talked and had fun together, and it was a really good moment.”
33 Immortals is coming to Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC, Cloud, and will be available on day one to Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass members. In 2024, an early access version will be released through the Xbox Game Preview program on Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC, also available on Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass.
