Uncloaking the Duality Arc – Carnac’s Guide to Star Trek Fleet Command

So the TNG arc is over … a bit. And Deep Space Nine is not here yet. So we have a rainbow falling somewhere in the middle. But far from being a fill arch or bridge, instead we have one full of new features and content. We have a great new feature, new systems, two new officers, and one feature we’ve been waiting a long time for is finally here.

And after a long period of events focused on the Federation, we now have the pendulum a little more towards the Romulans and especially the Klingons.

This should also be a great arc for free-to-play players, as much of this content will cost you nothing.

Camouflage!

After being announced on the road map last week, the speculations behind how the camouflage works were everywhere. Some were more precise about how it would work than others.

So here’s how it works in practice. You can only disguise your Klingon and Romulian ships, and that makes sense from a story angle. They will disappear and become aimless.

Camouflage is an active capability for your ships and will require (you guessed it) a new currency to activate. In the same way you need a muzzle to jump into your Discovery, you will need Tetryons to disguise your ships.

These tatars will be purchased from everyday gifts, events and from the store.

Before you can cover your ships, you will need to unlock the ability of each of your ships, and do so through enhancements, as can be seen above. (No, I really do not have that many shards, this is a stock image.)

This is how it looks to equip your ship’s camouflage device.

So here’s a video of what actual camouflage looks like. It starts with a brief explanation of how camouflage works. Each ship will wrap up for a different period of time, giving an attack bonus. But the cloak will disappear as soon as you attack another ship, anchor your ship, or if you feel crazy, decide to do mining with your embedded ship. After camouflage, there will be a cooling off period before you can disguise again.

And there are some more benefits to camouflage. First, you’ll get a 66% chance to hide your name and alliance data from your enemy’s battle logs. So if you want to take a risk hitting someone you do not like and not start a war, you have a 2/3 chance of doing so.

Second, if you enter the system while covering, you will not generate hostile revenge in this system. For higher level players who tend to lock a triangle, this is not a problem, but if you work as a faction representative in the high 20s and work on locking the first faction, this will be extremely useful for you.

Finally, you can use camouflage to prevent incoming attacks. You will just disappear, and you can avoid getting hurt.

Meaningless and irresponsible camouflage speculations

It’s going to be interesting to see if the Defiant gets confused … if we ever see it in the game. I mean, it must, right?

You can also load up on some other Federation ships to disguise. We saw both the Enterprise and the Enterprise-D cloak on screen. Would it not be something if we get a USS Pegasus In a game he hid, then got stuck inside a planet, as a kind of plot-supported bug.)

It would also be really cool if we were to get the Ship camouflage sound effect of a ship Appear in the game.

Camouflage background

Just in case you are curious, the camouflage device, like many others in Star Trek, owes its existence to the needs of a plot. Especially the plot of the TOS episode, Balance of terrorism (Which was also the Romulins’ debut.) If you haven’t watched much TOS, Balance of Terror is a great episode to start with. He stars before idle Mark Leonard as commander of a Romulan ship and bases his plot on a 1957 submarine film, The enemy down. Obviously, if you’re going to make a submarine film in space, you need some way to hide one of the ships, and the camouflage device was born.

(And since I know you like trivia like that, one of the officers on the German sub in “The Enemy Down” was played by the legendary character actor Theodore Bickle. It’s fitting that it’s going up this month, when Bickel made a great guest appearance on TNG when he played Wharf’s adoptive father, Sergei Rozenko, In the TNG Family episode.)

Also suitable for new officers this month, the horror balance has a pre-Stone Lawrence Montan.

The Enterprise-D here … a little

Enterprise-D leather

So after months of waiting, we finally get Enterprise-D leather. Cheers!

But there is good news and bad news.

On the plus side, you can get it in the battle passage, and it does look pretty cool. And I want it. There are Enterprise-D enhancements for Enterprise and Enterprise-A. Enterprise’s skin is on the free battle card, and Enterprise-A gets its skin on Premium Battlepass.

On the dark side, they do nothing. It’s just for show. So you get what you pay for.

But it’s “damaged skin,” and if I had to read about tea leaves, I’d bet it might look more like the Enterprise-D in the future.

New Wharf

worf

So the first wharf we got in the game was fine, the new one is a PvP beast. Is an epic officer who increases the ship’s armor piercing by 30% of the crew’s attack whenever the ship achieves a critical hit., And gives you a massive boost to critical hit chances against players in the first five rounds. If you pin it to the khan, you’re going to rain critical blows on your opponents in almost every round.

You can unlock it through events and Battlepass, which will be a little different from the events you used to unlock the epics in the past.

It’s more like going out with the Worf Klingons from TNG Redemption, which does lead to a Worf that will be seen later on in the DS9.

Screw hour

Screw Stone four out of ten
Does anyone else see here a strange resemblance to Anakin Skywalker from Retur of the Jedi? I’m constantly waiting for him to tell Luke to take off his mask so he can see him, “in my eyes …”.

So last month we got the Teppring screw, and this month we got her sensible (if a little stiff) husband at Stone. Compared to its original version, it’s a nice upgrade. It starts with a 60% increase for ore mining, compared to 40% for Stonn, but it gets even better when you combine it with Borg Tribble and Two of Ten, which now also give you synergy. So this is a huge boost to your mining.

He’s also the type of officer I’ve wanted for a while – another officer the size of a payload, big when raiding. With the decent amount of resources needed once you exceed 40+, along with TC research and outside staff, they have once again become worthwhile. Then he will start with a 40% reinforcement, which is where an hour ended, and he will reach a maximum with a 60% reinforcement. What’s more, you can combine the two with two out of ten for a huge increase in cargo size.

You will receive shards for four out of ten through events, and there will be many such. Completing all the events should bring you a full opening of Borg Stonn.

New systems

In parallel with some of the events this month, we are getting new systems. They are faction systems that will be considered for factional and daily hunting, but in which you will not gain or lose reputation points.

New Exocomps

So it will be interesting to see how it develops, now we have Alliance Exocomps. Any player in your alliance can use them, and all players in the alliance will get some benefit. Although this advantage will vary depending on the level of player performance.

And last but not least … photo tokens

I may have buried the LEDs here, but after months of waiting, we all get photon tokens. Instead of having to wait a month to submit your loyalty badges, you can now submit them once a week for Photon rewards and tokens.

Four photon tokens will allow you to open your monthly reward box.

And finally, players at the 40+ level will have better rewards for weekly and monthly breasts.

If you’ve kept your loyalty tags for a while, you’ll finally be able to redeem them.

And a random image that may be a hint

More to come
