The holiday sale on the Nintendo Switch eShop ends Monday. If you have gift card money left over and you have been waiting for a final discount, this is the last call. There are also two new releases to talk through — HD Soldier Toy, a tower defense remake, and Aircraft Carrier Survival, a WWII management sim that does not quite survive its own UI.
We will keep this short and direct, because the buying window is closing.
Quick take
- HD Soldier Toy ($29.99) is the XBLA tower defense classic remade with rebalanced levels and DLC.
- Aircraft Carrier Survival ($19.99) is a WWII carrier management sim with a cramped UI.
- The holiday sale ends Monday — last call for new purchases.
- Sales span SNK, Inti Creates, and Limited Run Games' digital libraries.
- Pricing tiers range from $1.99 up to $39.99, with most discounts 50 percent or more.
Why this matters
End-of-year sales are not just about saving money. They are also a useful stock check on the platform's health. When the same publisher (SNK) is dropping four Samurai Shodown products at once, it usually means the publisher is clearing inventory ahead of a bigger release. When Inti Creates puts its full Blaster Master Zero trilogy on sale at once, it usually signals a new Blaster Master title is on the horizon. The signal is not always explicit, but the pattern is reliable.
There is also a useful comparison to make for budget buyers. The Switch eShop is famously stingy with deep discounts compared to Steam. A 50 percent off sale on a Switch title is roughly equivalent to a 75 percent off sale on Steam — the floor is just higher. That is why the holiday window matters more on Switch than on any other platform.
A worked example
Say you have $20 in eShop credit and you have been waiting on Inti Creates titles. Right now you can buy Blaster Master Zero, Blaster Master Zero 2, and Blaster Master Zero 3 together for under $20 total. CotM 1 and CotM 2 (stained with blood) are also on sale for $4.99 and $7.49 respectively. The combined price is the cheapest way to get the entire Inti Creates Switch catalog of retro revivals. That is the kind of bundle that rarely happens outside the holiday window.
Best sales to grab before Monday
A few standouts worth pulling the trigger on:
- Samurai Shodown NEOGEO Collection at $9.99 (down from $39.99).
- NEOGEO Pocket Color Selection 1 at $19.99 (down from $39.99).
- Blaster Master Zero and Blaster Master Zero 2 at $4.99 each.
- Samurai Shodown (the main title) at $24.99 (down from $49.99).
- DEEMO Reborn at $15.00 (down from $25.00).
What to watch next
Watch for the post-sale lull. The week between the holiday sale closing and the next publisher sale is usually quiet. That is when to do your homework on the next round of discounts. If you missed a title here, you will likely see it again at the same price within two months.
Key takeaways
- HD Soldier Toy ($29.99) is the standout new release of the day.
- Aircraft Carrier Survival has a cramped interface that does not justify the $19.99 price.
- The holiday sale ends Monday — buy before then.
- Look for SNK and Inti Creates bundles as a budget catch-up on retro revivals.
