The Next Chapter of Teaching and Learning on Roblox

Our vision at Roblox is to re-imagine the way people unite, to offer a safe and civic place where everyone can create, explore, collaborate and share experiences. After over six years with Imbellus in developing simulation-based assessments that assess the cognitive and practical skills that life requires, I am excited about the opportunity to leverage my learning as we begin our next chapter Rublox Education.

Roblox Education will support and increase the teaching and learning that is already happening with Roblox Studio and Roblox. Every day, students learn to encode, solve problems with friends, and Experience Far places, not just hearing about them. We want everyone to have access to these opportunities. Our goal is to support the 100 million students who study on our platform by 2030.

Involvement of 100 million students requires equipping educators everywhere in dynamic learning environments that bring to life educational content – science phenomena, historical moments or mathematical concepts underlying systems in the real world – content that begs to be experienced, Not only learned. At Roblox, educators, principals, tutors, families and students will be able to access an ecosystem of educational experiences that are also enjoyable and exciting.

Equally important to teach with Roblox Studio. Roblox Studio offers community members, from educators to curious students, the opportunity to learn to create, encode and repeat a free and easy-to-use writing engine. Since 2015, Roblox has been supporting educational initiatives that leverage Roblox Studio to teach STEM (science, technology, engineering and math). our Build it, play it Events have recruited more than 20 million students to learn new development skills at Roblox Studio. Meanwhile, dozens of STEM training organizations, including ID Tech and Code Ninjas, have led tens of thousands of students through computer science, design and development courses.

The next big step for Roblox Education is to promote the educational benefits of both Roblox Studio’s and Roblox’s client side experiences, all in the service of teaching and learning in the Meta-Verse.

Our initial grants to the Rublox Fund

As our founder and CEO David Basutsky announced in a Blog post Earlier today, we launched our newest initiative, Roblox Community Fund, with an initial $ 10 million fund initially dedicated to bringing high-quality educational experiences to Roblox and supporting educators using Roblox Studio in their classrooms.

The Roblox Community Foundation will make investments, grants and advances for education partners who develop curricula and educational experiences that leverage our platform in sweeping and compelling ways, as well as support services for fostering teaching and learning at Roblox. As Roblox expands our education work and enhances our technology and platform capabilities involved in serving students and schools around the world, we will focus on ensuring our partners and programs reach vulnerable communities.

We welcome educators to imagine concepts and contexts for learning that Roblux can serve Best. Our primary education recipients represent the caliber and heterogeneity of the creators we hope to fund:

  • FIRST® and Filament games Join forces to collaborate on a new and exciting virtual robotics game based on Roboko, Which will meet the needs of today’s robotics competitors while expanding access to this vital and future form of STEM project-based learning. Through open sandbox play, problem-based challenges and competitive virtual tournaments inspired by contemporary eSports championships, this new experience will strive to provide a virtual adventure that complements the practical and fascinating robotics programs offered by First.
  • Science Museum Launch Destination Mars where students will explore the International Space Station and plan a landing on Mars. Students will work in teams to develop and maintain infrastructure to support experiments and human life on Mars. In the process, students will understand how NASA stages its growing human presence in space. Students will experience living conditions in different external environments and the adjustments needed to ensure human survival outside the Earth, all while practicing STEM habits of the brain, especially process-related ones. Engineering design and scientific inquiry Students will use standard methods and next-generation scientific skills while studying and researching as space scientists.
  • Project Lead The Way (PLTW) Will be releasing unique STEM educational learning experiences starting in the spring of 2022. Over 250,000 students across the country will be able to explore careers and concepts in computer science, engineering and biomedical sciences. Students will engage, collaborate, research, visualize, create and solve problems in a virtual environment to acquire key insights into STEM concepts and develop the mobile skills required to face today’s challenges and be ready for tomorrow’s careers.

Roblox strives to be a valued and targeted learning tool, both in the classroom and at home. We do not claim to disrupt, replace or reinvent the way education takes place; Instead, our ambition is to enable an ecosystem of content that will support educators and families as they continue to foster student learning around the world. Although we understand that our educational offerings may not be everything for everyone, we will do our best to be useful, low-friction, open and relevant to community members who choose to study with Roblox.

You can learn more about our vision for teaching and learning support with Roblox on ours Education site. We also encourage education providers, developers and educators to read about the Rublox Community Foundation and contact our staff at education@roblox.com With suggestions for building educational experiences at Roblox or teaching with Roblox Studio.
