Sony has announced a new collaborative initiative called PlayStation PlayMakers. The console giant will partner with the brand’s famous fans to “celebrate their passion for games and PlayStation” by creating unique experiences for players. One of those famous names is NBA star LeBron James, who helped design limited edition PlayStation 5 accessories.
The special console panels and DualSense 5 controller were designed in collaboration with James and will be released in selected countries. The hardware is decorated with artistic elements (including obligatory crowns) and personal messages of inspiration from LeBron. No word yet on prices, but you can only pre-order these items via direct.playstation.com. sometime this year. You can read LeBron’s thoughts on the project by visiting the website Playstation blog.

Other big names involved with PlayStation Playmakers include country music star Jimmy Allen, actor and comedian King Bach, and other professional athletes such as BMX’s Nigel Sylvester, Nelisa Smith, NFL stars Ja’Marr Chase and CeeDee Lamb, French free soccer player. Lisa Zimush, and Belgian soccer star Romelu Lukaku. The initiative feels similar to McDonald’s recent push of name-brand menu items, so who knows what to expect from these names and others in the future.
