After seven years in development, Albert Marin and his small team have completed their rework and exhaustive reworking Resident Evil 4The graphics of the computer. Compared to some other projects where developers are upgrading or improving the visuals to a new generation or a new hardware platform, this team tested each image property, using funds donated by project fans to improve Capcom’s game port to the PC.
In some cases where old textures just did not look so good at higher resolution, the team recreated many of them from scratch using images or AI, striving to stay true to the aesthetics of the original game. When I interviewed Albert Marin in early 2021, the team accumulated over 4,500 Photoshop files and invested more than 9,000 man-hours on the project.
Personally, I’m surprised (but happy) that the team did not receive a break order from Capcom – especially closer to the date the VR version was released in Quest 2. In a show of good faith, the company even posted a forum post on The repair is made by the fan Resident Evil 4Steam Discussion Page. You like to see it.
This HD project, which can be installed as a fix for Resident Evil 4 On Steam, does not make game adjustments. Instead, every stone, ammunition box, door handle – even the visuals – were lovingly updated by the staff. For people who may have recently played the Resident Evil 4 VR Playing for Quest 2, this can be a fun way to experience the most polished version of the original third-person game.
