PlayStation Acquires Esports Platform Repeat.gg

Sony Interactive Entertainment acquires Repeat.gg, an esports technology platform as its ambitions in the field continue to grow.

Repeat.gg is one of the largest e-sports tournament platforms in the world and it helps users compete for cash prizes in online games. Moreover, it organizes asynchronous sports tournaments that allow players to compete in games even if they are not connected at the same time.

The company can automatically track the players’ statistics in the game and provide them based on their performance. Repeat.gg shared the news On the blog, Says he has always focused on “Esports for Everyone” and has no plans to stop this mission any time soon. So why did she agree to the purchase?

“We will have access to additional resources, game titles and technology that will allow us to grow the team to push Repeat in directions we never thought would be possible,” Repeat.gg’s Jeff Shull wrote. “It will allow us to grow Repeat significantly over the next few years with a lot of new features, continuing our mission to become synonymous with e-sports by creating a home where everyone has a chance to compete and win.”

Although acquired by PlayStation, Repeat.gg still plans to support “PC, laptop and other consoles alongside PlayStation”.

Since its inception, Repeat.gg has hosted over 100,000 tournaments with more than 2.3 million participants. PlayStation, obviously, is very excited to add this experience to its team.

This is another step forward into the e-sports game for the PlayStation and following the acquisition of the Evolution Championship Series, the largest fighting games tournament in the world. It also follows the news that the PlayStation deal to purchase the Destiny Bungie key has been completed.
