Blizzard has revealed the original story of Overwatch 2’s new protagonist, Sojourn.
A new trailer (below) shared how the series’ first black protagonist got involved in Overwatch, with her story directly linked to Soldier: 76 (also known as Jack Morrison).
“My unit of the Canadian Special Forces connected to Overwatch during the artistic crisis,” Sojourn says in the trailer. “Jack Morrison and I worked well together and after the war he reached out.”
Although it shows no real gameplay, Sojourn can be seen holding a large pistol reminiscent of Soldier’s weapon: 76, and in the trailer description it is said to be equipped with cyber capabilities.
Allegedly, Sojourn served with Overwatch sometime between the original game and the other, saying “no matter what their mission was, mine was to bring each of them home.”
Sojourn concludes by saying, “It was a once in a lifetime honor to serve with Overwatch, but you can love anything wholeheartedly and still know it’s time to say goodbye. Even the best journeys end, but new journeys are around the corner.”
While Overwatch 2 brings back the entire cast of characters from the first game, Sojourn is the only new character approved so far.
Players with access to the first computer’s closed beta can check it out on April 26, and although Blizzard has not confirmed a release date for the game’s official launch, it said PvP and PvE modes will come separately.
