Durst, the developers of the high-end fashion mobile dress-up game of the same name, has secured £15 million ($19 million) in funding as part of the ongoing development of Durst 2.0.
The investment comes directly from Durst founder and co-chairman Graham Edwards. Durst has garnered significant attention and investment from across the industry, as well as collaborations with many fashion brands such as Gucci and Prada. This new investment will go towards Durst’s scale, including the development of A “new metaverse-friendly version” of their current title.
Drest CEO Lisa Bridget said: “We are delighted to have secured an investment that will help us grow DREST, especially in such a difficult market. This is a testament to the strength of our product offering and pipeline of ideas. Now we are ready to take the business to the next level, and offer our users a new and special experience while maintaining the core elements of the game. There is an unwavering interest in gaming from the luxury fashion and lifestyle industries and we are very well positioned to meet this growing demand. We are very much looking forward to the next episode.”
Moving from mobile to metaverse and more
Durst has proven to be particularly ambitious with their plans for their degree. Earlier this year Durst activated web3 expert Henri Holm as CFO earlier this year. It seems then that this latest investment should dramatically accelerate their plans to push Durst to a wider audience.
What is clear is that the metaverse ambitions of the studio reflect those of many who want to bring brands from the real world into the digital realm. And with big fashion brands always looking for more visibility, the digital world in the palm of an actor’s hand can almost always be their golden ticket.
