Melodies of Steel 2’, ‘Gunvein’, Plus Today’s Other Releases and Sales – TouchArcade

Hello gentle readers, and welcome to the SwitchArcade Round-Up for May 11, 2023. Crying over today’s new releases, friends. We have a brand new one Zelda Match match tomorrow, with The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Realm Finally arriving after years of development. I’d imagine a lot of people save their money and gaming time for this, and I’m not sure what that means for today’s games. There are definitely some good ones here, and we have recaps of the entire group. Next, we’ll look at the relatively easy lists of new and expired sales for today. Let’s get to the games!

New releases

Fuga: Melodies of Steel 2 ($39.99)

Another dose of depression and despair, most likely. Fugue: steel tunes carried on Little Brooks Tail series dutifully, and seems to have done well enough to get a sequel. By and large you can expect more than what you saw in the first game, but some of the game mechanics have been adjusted based on player feedback from the first. Naturally, it also tells a whole new story, with many possibilities that can lead to different outcomes. If you are new to the series, start with the first one fugue. If you didn’t like this game, you probably won’t like this game. And if you did? You probably already pre-ordered it.

Gunvein ($19.95)

NGDEV’s highly regarded vertical shooter comes to Switch with this release. It’s a ball-heavy game that rewards aggressive players, and it’s very good. If you enjoy Kiev shooters, you’ll be right at home here. There are three different characters to use, multiple modes to play, and the all-important online leaderboards to compete against. It is also packed with various tutorials and challenges that will help you learn the ins and outs of the game.

TT Isle of Man: Ride on the Edge 3 ($49.99)

Nikon’s decent-but-not-spectacular biker is back for another spin. It features updated content based on the latest TT, and a new open world that lets you ride around the Isle of Man in search of different situations and challenges. Given the performance issues of previous Nacon releases on Switch, I’m worried about how this open world fares on this platform, but I guess we’ll find out soon enough. Probably best to wait for some reviews on it.

Arcade Archives Mazinger Z ($14.99)

Well, here’s a milestone: the world’s first licensed game Arcade Archive straighten up And the price matches that, I’m afraid. This is a vertical shooter released in 1994 by Banpresto, based on the classic giant robot brand. Take control of the traveling hero and blow up the bad guys. Not one of the best shooters by any means, but it’s not too shabby either. I hope this opens the door to this drug Sailor Moon beatings

Murderous Muses ($13.99)

Creators of The contagious madness of Doctor Decker, the shape-shifting detective, and Dark nights with Poe and Monroe Here comes the procedurally generated supernatural mystery game. Yes, it’s a little different every time you play it, and yes, things like this always make me a little nervous. Review reviews for its Steam release were somewhat mediocre, but it seems to have gotten a slightly warmer reception from gamers. If you want to solve a murder mystery in an art gallery where the exhibits come to life, you might check this out. After all no one else is making a game to your very particular taste.

War of the Elements 2 ($19.99)

Oh hey, another fugitive from Stadia. It’s a tower defense game, and it’s not very good. Not really bad either. It features eleven different maps to play on, and you can play with another player online assuming you can find someone. Admittedly, the main thing it has going for it is the decent visual presentation, but it’s very hard to strongly recommend it, unless you really want to play every tower defense game you come across.

Local News with Cliff Rockslide ($9.99)

I remember a few years ago people told me that there would never be nostalgia for the early 3D era of the visual style of games. I think it’s safe to say that these apparently complex people were wrong. Anyway, this is a first person game where you control the camera. It is up to you to frame the events that occur in the way you choose. It’s a comedy adventure, so a lot of the good it lands on depends on whether you find it funny or not. I dig the graphics, at least. We’ll have to see about the rest.

Jump from Hell ($9.99)

EpiXR seems to be doing it again. This publisher definitely gets a lot of mileage out of its engine. Anyway, this is a first-person platformer. Make your way through each level as fast as you can, enjoying the beautiful hellscapes as you go. Not very exciting, but I’m sure there are people who will have fun with it.

Menseki: Maze Search Zone ($4.99)

Another simple puzzle game in Mansky series. It makes you hunt for shapes using some clues and your own intuition. The presentation is, as always, rather spartan. But the puzzles look decent enough, so if you’re looking for a different kind of logic puzzle this might be worth your fiver.

Harrods ($4.99)

QUByte is quite good at its eShop groundwork, publishing some interesting and very reasonably priced games that punch a bit above their weight. But traditional side-scrolling film feels like risky business given that Arcade Archive Offers over a hundred great shots for just a few bucks more than that. fans of the life force We may enjoy the biological theme of this game, but it’s really just kind of a middle ground in a platform full of top shelf games in this genre even at this price range.

After You ($6.99)

This is another room escape style puzzle adventure. The game consists of three chapters, each with its own area to explore and puzzles to solve. You play as a character who wakes up to find his entire family and neighbors missing. He has to explore the empty environments and try to figure out what’s going on. Pretty standard setup for this kind of thing.

Pretty Girls 2048 Strike ($6.99)

Well, it’s 2048 mixed with Beautiful girls Branding is fine. to play 2048, developed more and more sexy outfits for the women. It’s not rocket science, but I’m relatively certain it will sell.

Matching Puzzle: Classic Logic Arcade ($9.99)

I mean, it’s just some of the old matchstick puzzles. You can do it with some toothpicks or matches yourself. You don’t have to give Megama ten bucks for this crap.

Zombie Dead Smasher – World Simulator Kill Strike Gun Shooter 3D Poly Games 2023 ($9.99)

More rubbish from Midnight Works. You have to play it in handheld mode because it’s probably a half-belly portable port and the publisher couldn’t be bothered to implement button controls. Leave it in the trash it came from.

Sales

(North American e-store, US prices)

It looks like Square Enix is having a sale on what’s left of its western gaming lineup. I’m surprised they continued fear effect, for the sake of honesty. I would have thought it would have gone with the rest of Eidos. Well, anyway, you can have PowerWash simulator and some what Life is strange Discounted games. Not too much in the inbox, so I’ll leave it to you to dig through. Blasters are rampant and rocket dancer Both are cool, at least.
