Today at San Diego Comic-Con, we got a look at a brand new trailer for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 that focused on a first in-depth look at Venom, as well as showing off Harry Osborn, Mister Negative and more.
The trailer opens with a conversation between Peter Parker and Harry Osborn, the latter talking about being given a second chance and how Peter will “heal the world.” Peter then introduces Harry to some friends, including Mary Jane and Miles Morales, who ask if Peter will have time for “studying” (you know, being Spider-Man) now that he has a new job as a teacher.
From there, we get glimpses of Kraven the Hunter chasing Spider-Man around New York, and Miles confronting Mister Negative, who we know from the previous games killed his father. And then there’s a lot of Venom, the symbiote, and its growing negative effects on Peter Parker and his relationships with his friends and family (which we also heard about during today’s panel). We then hear Venom’s voice: “We’re going to heal the world,” echoing Harry’s words from the beginning of the trailer. Could Harry Osborn be Venom’s host in this story?
PlayStation blog post Elaborating on some of this a bit more, talking about how Miles is trying to apply to college but is too focused on being Spider-Man to do it, and Peter is short on cash to make payments on Aunt May’s house. And as we heard at the panel, J. Jonah Jameson is back at the Daily Bugle messing around with MJ.
Today’s panel revealed the existence of a brand new PS5 and DualSense controller bundle for Spider-Man 2, which will be available for pre-order next week. You can also read about everything else coming out of the convention in our roundup of everything that was announced.
