Kakegurui Twin Anime Netflix Spinoff With Mary Saotome Explained

On November 9, at the Netflix festival in Japan, a pastry studio announced a new one Kakegurui Gambling School Anime, this time in the adaptation Kakguri Twin.

The original Kakegurui The manga began in Gangan, Square Enix’s manga advertising arm, in 2014. KakeguruiThe author of Homura Kawamoto, with art by Tooru Naomura. Who coined the series faces from excited gamblers (or crazy lesbian faces as most fans call it). And they look much better in the manga than in the anime.

Anyway, seeing Homura Kawamoto not draw his own manga, he has enough time to write some spin-offs, and Kakguri Twin It is the first, started in 2015, and painted by Kei Saiki.

Note that this story contains spoilers for Kakegurui.

what Kakguri Twin, Explained a spin-off

Kakguri Twin Takes place one year before the main manga, before the protagonist Yumeko Jabami joins the school. The story focuses on Mary Sautoma and her early days at school.

In particular, Mary reunites with her childhood friend Zuzora the Natmari, who is now a pet. For the most part the story has a Jurassic feel, focusing on the relationship between Zuzora and Mary, and the growing trust between them.

Most if not all of the characters in twin Do not appear in the main manga. Because they are in their third year, and have graduated until Yomko joins. In particular there is Sachiko Juraku, who can be considered the main antagonist of the spinoff. She sometimes helps, sometimes inhibits Mary, and actually likes her to the point of wanting to make her her pet and break her. Aside from Zuzura, Mary also collects other allies as she tries to survive in school.

However, until the main manga begins, Mary is alone. This implies that something happened to her friends with Zuzora, and this is one of the main mysteries of twin.

Kakguri Twin It’s just as good as the main manga, if not better at certain points. The Bets, at least in the first three volumes, I have not read the series in years, they are all quite established. Kakguri Twin It also has a more realistic feel. Seeing Mary is not the MacGyver of gambling like Yumeko.

Kakguri Twin Estimated release date on Netflix, Key Visual

Kakguri Twin Is the longest spin-off of the series, which is still currently being pulled alongside the main series, with 12 volumes. Yen Press produces it in the US, with 10 volumes released so far.

Kakguri Twin Will be released in August 2022 on Netflix. It will be a world edition. The main visual of the announcement features Mary and Cuzora.

Personally, I believe in both the main story and Kakguri Twin Excellent. However, I always felt that Mary’s screen time and actions in the main story had diminished beyond the opening arcs, since she got her own spin-off, which is a shame.
