Before we move on to the list of layers, we thought we’d quickly explain what our layers mean:
- S layer: These are the best characters currently available in the game, and you should definitely aim to add them to your party. They should also be the first choice to level up and gain access to equipment.
- layer: These characters are perfect for filling gaps in a party – especially when you haven’t unlocked enough S-tiers, or there aren’t enough S-tiers to fill a party in the first place. You need to research these characters and see which ones will counter your party’s weakness.
- Doctor Gav’: Characters in this tier can be very helpful in the early stages of the game when you haven’t developed many characters, but they fade later on. Definitely use them when you’re short on S and A characters, but alternate them as much as possible.
- Layer C: The only real difference between C-rank and D-rank is that C-rank characters can occasionally have niche uses. They may be great in a certain game mode, or be particularly strong early on. A late game party shouldn’t be a party.
- Layer D: We do not recommend using these characters under any circumstances, unless you absolutely must because you have nothing else. They perform less in all phases of the game, and in all game situations.
